Onward for Nonprofits
Keep Your Donate Button. Your Gifts Still Count.
Onward lets nonprofits bring in gifts made through Givebutter, Donorbox, PayPal, Stripe, Every.org or any other donation tool, by spreadsheet or an automatic feed, so their totals stay accurate without switching tools.
What You Can Do
- Upload a spreadsheet export from your donation tool. Onward reads the columns and shows a preview first.
- Connect your donation tool once (through Zapier or Every.org) so new gifts come in on their own
- Skip refunds and gifts already brought in, automatically
- Count each gift once, even if a donor also logged it on Onward
- Let donors who are on Onward show their gift on their profile, only if they say yes
- Undo an import with one tap
How It Works
- 1Export your gifts as a spreadsheet from your donation tool.
- 2Upload it on your Manage page and check the preview.
- 3Your page's total updates, and Onward members who gave are asked whether to show it.
Questions
Who owns the donor information?+
You do. Donor information a nonprofit sends to Onward belongs to that nonprofit and is used on its behalf: to update its totals and to let Onward members claim their own gifts. Onward never sells it, never shows it publicly, and never emails those donors itself.
Will donors be surprised?+
No. Nothing shows on a donor's profile unless they're on Onward and say yes.
Which tools work?+
Any tool that exports a spreadsheet, which is nearly all of them.
Does it cost anything?+
No. Everything on Onward today is free, and it stays free. If we add paid extras later, they'll be new and optional.
